The annual Pensioners’ Party at Westlakes Science & Technology Park will take place on 13th December 2016. This year marks a decade of the festive fun arrangement between the site owners and operators, Britain’s Energy Coast, Whitehaven & District Lions Club who bring a delegation of local pensioners, and Moor Row School who delight the crowd with carols year-on-year.
Carols will be sung at 2pm in Ingwell Hall, following the traditional sherry on arrival (nor for the kids!). Anyone who is working or visiting Westlakes or the nearby area on Tuesday is very welcome to attend.
Following the hour-long service the school children will retire for well-earned refreshments and gifts, and the pensioners group are invited for a festive meal at the Westlakes restaurant. The meal is kindly provided by The Catering Academy and served by the Britain’s Energy Coast Facilities Services Officer team.
One of the highlights of the day over the last decade has grown to be the post-dinner raffle. Donations from Westlakes tenants are on stand by for their lucky recipients and this year’s top prize is a Tassimo coffee machine, kindly donated by Doosan. Liz Bowe, of Pac Tec, donates to the raffle each year. Commentating on her long-term support she said: “We welcome the opportunity to support and bring goodwill and cheer to the lives of older people in our community at Christmas.” Anyone wishing to offer up raffle prizes for the event should ensure these are directed to the receptions at Ingwell Hall, Kelton House, Fleswick Court, Galemire Court or the Innovation Centre.
“It’s been a whirlwind year for Britain’s Energy Coast,” commented CEO Michael Pemberton, “Since we last welcomed the Lions, their guests and Moor Row School to our site we’ve seen major strategic change and through this, a renewed commitment to the communities we serve. I look forward to welcoming everyone to Ingwell Hall on Tuesday.”
